SEA LEVEL RISE
Relative Sea level rise as driver for extreme events impacts

The IPCC report indicates that global mean sea levels will most likely rise between 0.29 and 1.1 meters by the end of the century.
Sea level rise is primarily driven by thermal expansion of the ocean as it warms, as well as melting glaciers and ice sheets.
The rate of sea level rise is projected to increase over time, with some estimates suggesting it could exceed several centimeters per year in the 22nd century.
Sea level rise will not be uniform globally. Certain regions, particularly low-lying coastal areas and islands, will be more vulnerable to the impacts of rising sea levels.
